The Heart of California!

Today David and I were RUDELY awoken by the most of obnoxious drilling noise I've ever herd!!! OH EMM GEE - This is so annoying ... well ... mine as well do a blog post! I'll tell you guys about Santa Barbara:)

The Vally is arguably one of the most beautiful places I've ever been!!! You're sandwiched between luscious green mountains and the Pacific:

The pics don't really do it justice ... it's stunning tho!

So we had a golden day on Wed... I'll tell you about the pandemonium that ensued later:) On Thursday Erica and I took a cab to the downtown area and just had one of those - play it by ear days... we strolled on the beach for a bit, discussing life and dreams, and ended up wandering over to the Marina:

We dined at this amazing restaurant on the dock:

So satisfied we met up with Megan and caught the farmers market walking back up State Street to meet the cab... then we did a show!

---

The next day I woke up early and hopped the city bus downtown so that I could get some acupuncture done! The guy that poked me was hilarious!!! He told me that I need to find a lover that does Deep Tissue Massage -- In my head I got this mental image of me at a club dancing around asking people if they do massage therapy and if they say no I pivot turn away ... hahaha anyway I left feeling peaceful, relaxed, rejuvenated and so zen!

I met up with Julia and Erica and we Strolled down State Street:

State Street has a plethora of different types of shops and restaurants - it's a conglomerate of Hippy and Wealthy - it's kind of funny!

We made our way back down to the beach again, were we found some of our people!!!

I have a really funny vid to show you guys - I need to get it from Megan - stay tuned:)

A little Sun Kissed we walked down the boardwalk to check it out ... so glad we did!!!

At the end of the dock is a ridiculous Sea Food Restaurant by the name of The Shellfish Company:

Fun Fact: The Shell Fish Company goes thru over 100 pounds of Shell fish A DAY!!! Crazy!!! Strategically placed out front was this guy making booies - I felt like it was 1950:

We decided to all split a 9 pound crab by the name of Nelson!!!

Our lovely waiter Diego, from Brazil, man handled Nelson out of the tank:

And a quick 45 minutes later Nelson looked like this:

About 30 minutes later...

Of corse we had to be totally inappropriate and do a little photo shoot with Nelson's Shell:

Scary drama? I don't really know what david was going for with this?

Hot anyone??? Here cool yourself off with this Sensible Fan:)

Oh how I love you so?
One Singular Sensation!!! We should start using Shell finally hats in the show... they would weigh a lot less - that's for sure!!! hahaha Oh Nelson you were definitely a memorable experience!!!

After our epic dinner we did a little more shopping, got a little pic-me-up, a little sweet and enjoyed the sunset on our way to the theatre before the show:

We weren't gifted with this vibrant of a sun set on the night that we were strolling but it was still beautiful - I found these pics while google image searching and I love them ... hahaha

A lot of us were very sad to leave Santa Barbara - it was an amazing couple of days:)

Theoni V. Aldredge

This amazing woman passed away on the 21st... She is a Broadway legend that has been incredibly influential in making Costume Design what it is today! She did the Costumes for both the Original and the Revival of A Chorus Line:

If I ever had a chance to meet her I would have told her thank you for putting Al in denim stretch pants, and a wool track jacket!!!

Here's the link to an article that Playbill.com put out - her life and accomplishments are amazing!!! Please Read:

Sensible Muvments Wtih Pauly Flanagan (Volume 1)

SOOOOOOOO...... We have started a little project!!!

After the TV interview I was like if I can make a fool of myself on TV then I can most deff make a fool of myself on youtube!!!

This is the first video of many! One of the band members is composing some original music for us, so as he wips that out we'll be filming more vids:)

Our goal with this cute little series is to get asked to come onto the Ellen Degeneres show and dance with her! So if anyone has a connection - let's make this happen!!! :)

My first Review for ACL

YAY!!!!!!!!! I got my first review... it was just one paragraph... actually it was more about ashley... really they just thru my name in there because I hold her hand for the whole show! hahaha

The assorted character roles provide many of the show’s amusing accents along with the poignant scenes. Ashley Klinger, actually still a student finishing her final year of university training, plays a ditzy, tone-deaf singer who gets to show off her deft dance skills during the song “Sing!” She’s ably assisted by Paul Flanagan, who plays her supportive partner.

This last week has been a little crazy! I think it may be because of the climate change ... or maybe we're just all exhausted... but everyone is getting sick! On Tuesday I woke up feeling a little under the weather, figured it would just go away by showtime. In the middle of the show I realized that I had a full out no marking fever.

The next morning I woke up at 5 and immediately started looking for a doctor in the area. I arrived at the hospital right when they opened. Turns out I had a temp of 101 and strep throat!!! ... Probably shouldn't have done the show the night before but - I didn't realize it was that bad...

Obviously I called out Wednesday night... but let me tell you after some antibiotics, steroids for the swelling, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Emergen-C immune +, 8 16 ounce glasses of water and 3 glasses of throat coat I was feeling great!!!! HA

Last night we had 6 understudies on and they did amazing!!! Some friends of mine came that live in the LA area and they couldn't tell at all! It was an amazing show!

Love you all - hope all is well:)

The Interview!!!!

WOW... WOW - WOW - WOW!!!!

So I have a good one for you guys today!

Ashley and I:
That pic was taken at Mount Rushmore by the way:) fun day ... I'll tell you about it later! This is more important!

So we found out just the other day that Ashley and I were going to do a Live TV interview for a local NBC affiliate station here in Phoenix...

We got picked up at 5:50AM I got like 2 hours of sleep because I was so afraid I was going to miss my alarm, hahah! So anyways we get to the station and are greeted with our coffee orders - I felt so glamorous - I was like "YES I can most def get used to this" haha

So we sit in this green room watching the news live... in the same building as it's being broadcasted... it was a little weird! This lady comes in and is like "you guys are up," so laxidaysicaly "we'll try to play you the clip of the song during a commercial brake" ... We needed the music cause we were gonna teach them the last part of the Choreo: hahah

So we get into this Brand new studio -- Today was there debut show, it's kind of amazing that we got a time slot!!!
All the camera's are on hydraulics and are moving about the studio by themselves - it was kind of crazy!

So I say to this guy ...

"ummm... should we have some sort of mic situation?"

"uhhh oh - yeah"

He starts running!!!! Frantic he's trying to find two portable mics for Ash and I to wear. Meanwhile it's the commercial brake before our segment and no music is happening - then Fay Fredricks:
A very lovely lady, comes over to introduce herself... we're talking and then get yelled at because they were right in the middle of a weather segment!!! hahaha

It was crazy!!! Fay's trying to get the information for the interview, Cameras - like awkward robots are rolling all over the place on there own accord, Ash and I are getting miced:
And then out of nowhere Scott Light is standing right next to me introducing himself:
So we're Talking, Laughing, then all of a sudden Fay starts talking at the camera!!! WE'RE LIVE!!! There was no warning, no 3-2-1... "Well ok - here we go!!!"

... Just ... here's the clip - Watch it and then I'll tell you what was happening on our end:

So here's the deal with the Dancing ... the music was NOT playing in the studio! We couldn't here it, had no clue!!! So that's why I counted off at totally the wrong tempo in the middle of the song!!! AHHHHHH hahah - It came on at the end, the last jump kicks were Ash and I are kicking our faces, that's all we heard of that music and were finally together for like 2 1/2 kicks...

So they cut and that was it! Fay and Scott said thanks and ran off to do another segment while we just escorted ourselves out and came back to the hotel ... we left laughing / in a state of shock - not really knowing what just happened...

Some things I love from the vid:

A) I look like a legal midget on TV!!!
B) What was with the Politzer Prize comment?
C) Apparently Scott made a sports reference after the pulled hammies comment ... tots went right over my head!!! (thank you Stephanie for pointing that out!)
D) Scott Ducking out at the last minute killed me - I was laughing so hard / but couldn't touch on it cause I was freaking out about how we were all off!!!!!
E) THEY ARE THROWING $3,000 HATS!!!!!

Such a funny morning! I talked to our PR guy Andrew afterward and he said it wasn't as crazy as it felt and he was happy with it... so all is good:)

Hope it made you smile cause i'm dying - hahahahahaha :)

Summer!!! In January???

So From the Vail ... were it will be 7 Degrees tomorrow... (BAAAAAAAH so glad we're not there!!!) We bumped on over to Palm Dessert CA!!

It was basically a 12 hour travel day with a 3 hour break... We bussed from the mountain to the heart of downtown Denver ... the hustle and bustle of the City made me miss NY so much!!! I felt rejuvenated even tho it was only a short trip!

I called my friend Chris Rowen, cause she's lived in Denver for a while. She said we had to go to Larimer Square:

I am so glad we went, the Square is so cute!!! Lots of really fun independent shops and some amazing restaurants!!! We had the most amazing happy hour at Tag because of Miss Rowens Raving recommendation!!! Heres the link to there web-sight:

http://tag-restaurant.com/

I had a drink called "An Honest Mistake" It's name should be changed to: "The Perfect Choice" after two I felt so happy, chatty and ready for the rest of our travel day!

On the way back to the bus we stopped by the Tattered Cover Book Store - it was amazing: a 3 story locally owned book shop! So fun!!! We probs could have spent 5 hours in there but we only could allow for 10 mins... We basically had to drag grandpa Hardy out of the store, hahaha

From Downtown we went to the airport - thankfully Julia and I finagled our way into sitting next to eachother and laughed the whole flight!!!

Another bus was waiting for us after got all of our bags... the funniest part of the day was seeing our own bus in the parking lot of the hotel when we pulled in ... Uncle Wayne is amazing!!! he tots beat us!!!

The next morning was once of the most surprisingly happy days of my life!!! We are staying at an Embassy Sweets:

I have been sitting Pool Side in my spedo for the past 3 days -- AND IT'S JANUARY!!!! This hotel is amazing I'm so glad we got to stay here!!!

In between shows yesterday we got dropped off at what we were told was a strip mall type place ... I'm thinking oh great - maybe they'll have a footlocker for me to get a new pair of sneaks for running... WRONG! They had stores like Burberry, Juicy Couture, Gucci, Louis Vuitton... I thought about getting a pair of Gucci running shoes but just couldn't justify it... hahaha jokes - jokes! We found this cute little outside grassy knoll with some amazing statues that we just couldn't pass up recreating!!! This the sculpture:

...
People were staring / laughing ... I don't really know why! We were behaving so well!!! haha

Today before the show - because it was so nice out - we decided to warm up outside. It was pandemonium!!!

Ok ... it's like a sensible... worm outside... like low 70's in the direct sun so we're all half naked, just living outside - doing our stretches, our crunches, our dance parties ... and oh yeah I forgot we were on the front lawn - so as the audience was rollin in they were getting another kind of show...

Erica ... God bless that girl she beats to her own drum!!! Comes out in this:

She is such and mess and that's why we love her!!! As the warm up progressed things got weirder and weirder:

I look up from a Michael Bennet Lunge and see this:

Yep at this point people are honking and yelling... then Ryan (the base) has this brilliant idea... here's the process:

It was quite eventful!!! :)

Tomorrow... well today we go to the Phoenix area:) I'm so excited to see some of my ABT friends:)

Peace and blessins!

Elevation = 11,440

Yes!!!! We had to perform in Beaver Creek colorado were the elevation was 11 thousand 4 hundred and 40 feet!!!! Full out no marking - DANCE!!!!

So I have to back up a little bit cause the hole day was eventful! As of the last post our bus was out of commission... Well it was fixed and all ready to go in the morning! So when we all hopped on at 7AM everything was fine... I wake up at 8AM to someone yelling at me to move my legs witch pissed me off! I then realize, oh so quickly, that I am sweating profusely!!! I reach up to turn on my vent... you know maybe it's just the sun ... NOTHING COMES OUT!!!

The hole right side of the bus's vents had stopped working and the Left side was only blowing Hot air from the engine ... At the front of the bus it was 91 Degrees ... so I'm sure at the back of the bus, were it's really crowded, was roastin at a NOT sensible 100 at least!!! There was so much commotion!!! Everyone was awake and complaining and starting to get REALLY agitated!!!

Jack decided to just turn off the air all together in an attempt to stop the heat blowing ... so sleeping / doing anything really, was not an option. All I could do was sit with my arms propped up so that my pits wouldn't water!!! Every once in a wile The vents would kick in and everyone would gasp and reach up to see if cold air was blowing out:

Unfortunately our wishes never came true! It was always nasty hot air!!! By the time we got to the lunch stop the majority of us was wearing very little clothing!!!

Post lunch they figured out a way to make it bearable.

So we're climin the mountain, witch was beautiful!!! Wild goats running around the rocks - it really was another amazing drive... Visually!!! The problem was as we kept getting higher the less I was able to breathe and all we were doing was sitting on the bus!!! I was like ... how am I going to dance???

We arrive at the hotel and just walking down the hall makes me winded and light headed ... we chill for a while - get back on the bus to go to the venue and start going further up the hill -- "NO WHAT ARE YOU DOING WANE??"

We walk into the theatre, Great facility, The resort was amazing - SO much money!!!

And at the company meeting we got the best news of all!!! They had:
YES!!!!!! They told us that after we get ready we should sit with the oxygen tank for about 5 mins and our breathing would be like it is at sea level for one hour... so I change real fast and get ready and go sit with the tank:

Yeah... excuse my language but that tank was Bullshit!!! It didn't help me at all - I was dying!!! Regardless we all got thru it! The Venue was so small it was great, we really got to feel the audience and they were loving it!!! Afterword we did a little meet and greet and got to talk to some of the beneficiaries of the theatre and they said they couldn't tell at all that we were struggling, so that's good!

We're in Palm Desert California now and I'm so thankful for 2 reasons: it's at sea level and it's worm!!! We've been laying out by the pool every morning I can't handle it!!! It's January and I'm wearing a spedo!!! Who does that? I love it!!! hahaha

HAVE to go to bed and get that Free breakfast!!! and it's 2:40AM :( Stay tuned! I'll talk to everyone later:)
